Comfort zones.

Comfort is easy. It requires no effort and wants nothing from us. When we fear uncertainty, loss and pain, we seek to cushion ourselves against life by remaining with the status quo.

However, that which is comfortable is often not what is best for us. If we never leave our comfort zone, we are likely sabotaging our chances for lasting success and happiness.

Take a look at your life as it is right now. Maybe you’re not even aware of most of your comfort zones:

Are you making as much money as you’d like?

Are you happy with your job?

Do you love meeting new people and getting to know them?

Are you able to set new goals for yourself and achieve them? Are you happy in your relationship?

Is your life run by things you have to do as opposed by things you want to do?

Are you content with where you live?

Do you find it difficult to say “no”?

Do you find yourself living automatically or simply just going through the motions?

Do you routinely run out of time, energy or patience?

Having happiness takes effort. It requires being proactive, confronting your fears, facing difficult situations, and having unpleasant conversations with yourself and others. If you are not sure where to start, therapy can help.
