Use Therapy to Get Past Regrets…

Many of us know what it’s like to live in regret and feel powerless. A lot of us are unable to move forward because of it.

We dwell on our past mistakes.
We obsess about things that happened to us.
We fixate on choices we made that caused us to feel ashamed.
We replay over and over what we should have done or what we shouldn’t have done.
We fixate on how everything would be better if we could just go back and change it all.
We tell ourselves the same damaging story over and over and over again, but it doesn’t change the outcome.

Typically, we only feel more shame. A crucial goal of therapy is changing our interpretation of the events and how we view ourselves, so we don’t allow our negative feelings and beliefs about the past to limit our happiness in the present.
